Compared to the empty hand art of Muay Thai, the Thai weaponry art of Krabi-Krabong is rarely taught. Yet, this powerful system of armed combat so impressed Black Belt Magazine Hall-of-Fame weapons expert Dan Inosanto that he set out to learn it and integrate it into the weapons curriculum at his Academy.
With an arsenal ranging from a simple knife, to a long halberd, to double weapons, and flexible weapons, Krabi-Krabong also integrates the empty hand techniques of Muay Boran (the forefather to Muay Thai) into its combative training methods. These ancient and traditional Thai martial arts were made famous by Tony Jaa in the movie, Ong Bak!
During this workshop, we will be covering the fundamentals of the Yod Khun Pon style of Krabi Krabong, as taught to Dr. Mark Cheng by Col. Nattapong Buayam, former Armed & Unarmed Combatives instructor to the Thai Special Forces and Special Thai Martial Arts instructor to the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts.
• Double Sword posture, gripping, & movement drills • The 5 most fundamental sword attacks • Muay Boran (the fearsome father of Muay Thai) close range combat • Wai Kru - the first solo double sword form specific to the Yod Khun Pon school • 15 fast-paced, aggressive combat line drills
Upon completion, participants will have covered level 1 curriculum and level II for Yod Khun Pon Krabi-Krabong double sword and will be eligible to train directly with Col. Nattapong on his next visit to the USA!
